The Texas Board of Professional Engineers' policy is to respond to each written complaint concerning the Board's services within 10 working days. If resolution is not possible within 10 working days, the written response to the complainant will indicate when the customer service representative expects to provide a resolution.

All other complaints or suggestions may be submitted to the Executive Office or to the Division Directors for resolution through established methods. The formal written complaint process is not intended to circumvent the current rules and policies that have been and will continue to be used by the Board's customers as a means of receiving information and resolving issues. The Texas Board of Professional Engineers' mission is to protect the public health, safety, and welfare by licensing only those individuals found to be competent to practice professional engineering in Texas and to enforce the Texas Engineering Practice Act. Our customer service program will measure customer service satisfaction by allowing our customers to rate the services we provide in conjunction with our responsibilities.

The Licensing Division of the Texas Board of Professional Engineers consists of the following programs:

This division provides our customers with all the information and applicable forms for becoming a licensed professional engineer. The Licensing Division conducts the initial review and evaluation of each applicant's engineering experience. The division coordinates the administration of two eight-hour national engineering examinations: the Fundamentals of Engineering Examination and the Principles and Practice of Engineering Examination. The Licensing Division also provides the information and applicable forms for engineering firms to become registered with the Board. This division provides our customers with the instructions and forms necessary for the annual renewal of all professional engineering licenses. The division also handles the maintenance of each licensee's master file record from which the roster of engineers is produced. This division provides our customers with the instructions and forms necessary for filing a complaint against either a licensed professional engineer or an unlicensed imposter. The division conducts investigations based on the allegations and findings, and recommends possible sanctions subject to Board approval when a violation of the Texas Engineering Practice Act has occurred. The Enforcement Division also provides guidance to our customers concerning engineering activities in Texas.
